Laws of Surah Baqarah V.200

“Once you have fulfilled your modes of worship in Hajj, recite the name of Allah, as you would speak of your forefathers or even with greater fervor. Now among the people there is one who says: “Our Lord, give to us in this world…” and he has no share in the Hereafter. (200)

Ruling: It was an old custom of the pagan Arabs that upon the completion of the hajj, they used to remain at Mina for three days. A market used to be established and they used to mention the greatness and virtues of their forefathers. Allah stopped them from this and ordered that once they had completed the rites of hajj, that they engage in the remembrance of Allah at Mina just as they used to remember their forefathers during the days of ignorance. In fact, even more than that. (Tafseer Uthmani V1 pg211)
