Laws of Surah Baqarah V.201

“Recite the name of Allah during the given number of days. Then whoever is early in leaving after two days, there is no sin on him, and whoever leaves later, there is no sin on him, if he is God-fearing. Fear Allah and be sure that you are going to be gathered before him.” (201)

Ruling: The days being referred to here are the 11th 12th and 13th of dhul-hijjah or the days of tashreeq. One is commanded to spend one’s time in mina after having completed the hajj. In these days, the jamarat are pelted and the takbeerat are recited after the prayers. The stay at mina can be two or three days. It is however, preferable to stay the third day. If one leaves mina before sunset on the second day, it is not necessary to do the ramy or pelting on the third day. But if he remains in mina till the sun sets, he cannot leave mina till he pelts the jamarat on the third day. (Maarif ul Quran V1 pg 508)
