Delaying the Janazah until Jumu'ah Salah

Question:

If someone dies in the morning on a Friday, and his inheritors bury him after Jumu’ah prayers because one will be rewarded more if the Janazah prayer is performed at Jumu’ah time, is the belief correct or not?

Answer: حامدا ومصليا

It is makrooh (reprehensible) to hold back the dead for so long simply for that reason. It is mustahab (desirable) and more virtuous to hasten in his burial.

If he died at such a time that by burying him there is a likelihood of missing the Jumu’ah prayer, then they should delay it until the Jumu’ah prayer. كذا في الطحطاوي ص 332[i]

And Allah Ta’ala knows best.

Translation of Arabic text:

If the mayyit (deceased) was prepared (by ghusl and kafan) in the morning on the day of Jumu’ah, it is makrooh to delay the  Janazah Salah on him so that a large crowd may pray on him after the Jumu’ah Salah. If, however, one fears missing Jumu’ah by burying him, then they will delay the burial.
