Laws of Surah Baqarah V.198

“There is no sin on you that you seek the grace of your Lord (by trading). Later, when you flow down from ‘Arafat, recite the name of Allah near Al-Mash‘ar-ul-Haram (the Sacred Monument), and recite His name as He has guided you, while before it, you were among the astray. (198)

Ruling: “There is no sin on you that you seek the grace of your Lord (by trading).” Some of the Muslims thought that taking part in business in the hajj would cause a defect in the hajj and was a continuation of the jahili practices. If somebody’s primary intention is to complete the hajj, but still does some business, no reward is lost in that and there is no sin in that what so ever. (Tafsir Uthmani V1 pg 209)

Ruling: The staying in Arafah is fard anytime between the zawal of the ninth of Zul-Hijjah and the dawn of the tenth of Zul-Hijjah. It is wajib to remain in Arafah till sunset of the ninth, there after one will leave to go to Muzdalifah where he will combine Maghrib and Isha on reaching there. It is Sunnah Muakkadah to stay the night in Muzdalifah and it is wajib to stay anytime between dawn and sunrise. (Hajj made easy pg19) There are two interpretations of Mashar al haram, one is Muzdalifah, and two, is a mountain in Muzdalifah named Quzah. It is preferable to stay by this mountain and permissible to stay any other place in Muzdalifah, except the valley of Muhasser. (Ruh Al Maani V3 pg193)
