Shaikh Ibn Uthaimeen said:

As for the questioner’s statement: “The hadith of Abu Bakrah is not definite (categorical)”, then it will be said:

“Yes, it is not definite. However, it is not a condition when using text as evidence that its meaning must be definite (categorical), rather one will suffice on the apparent. If another text is found contradicting it, meaning it necessitates that which contradicts the apparent, then we will interpret (ta’weel) the apparent.”

وأما قول السائل: إن حديث أبي بكرة ليس بقاطع.

فيقال نعم هو ليس بقاطع؛ ولكن ليس من شرط الاستدلال بالنص أن تكون دلالته قاطعة بل يكتفي بالظاهر، فإذا وجد نص آخر يخالفه -أي يقتضي ما يخالف ظاهره- فحينئذ نؤول الظاهر.
