Question:

In these days of fitnah, is it allowed for a Muslim woman to vote and run as a candidate for a council, assembly or municipality?

Answer:

It is not prohibited for a woman to vote. Yes, when she goes to vote, it is necessary on her to observe the Shar’ee hijaab. It is not good for a woman to become a candidate as it is impossible for her to join any council or assembly while fulfilling the obligations of Shariah.
