Description of the Day of Judgement

jannah2

Paradise is very high, and ascending lofty places takes a great deal of effort. The way to Paradise is filled with things that go against human wishes and inclinations. This needs strong determination and willpower. In a hadith narrated by Bukhaari and Muslim from Abu Hurayrah (ra) the Messenger of Allah (saw) said,

“Hell has been veiled with desires, and Paradise has been veiled with [surrounded by] hardships.”

A-Nasaa’ee, at-Tirmidhi, and Abu Dawud report from Abu Hurayrah (ra) that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said,

“When Allah created Paradise, He told Jibreel, “Go look at it”. So he went and looked at it, then he came back and said, “By Your Glory, no-one will hear of it but he will enter it”. So He surrounded it with hardships and said, “Go and look at it”. So he went and looked at it, then came back and said, “By Your Glory, I fear that no-one will enter it””. [Jaami al-Usool, 10/520, 8068]

So the attaining of Jannah is not an easy achievement. It takes a lot of efforts and hard work to gain this auspicious abode.

One of the most difficult test every man, woman and child will have to encounter before he or she can gain entrance into Paradise, is that frightful day known as the Day of Qiyaamah, the Day of Judgement, the Day of Reckoning and Accountability.

The Day of Judgment is “the Day mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds” (Surat al-Mutaffifin, 6).

It is a fierce day of events never seen before, a day during which the universe and all of its contents will be destroyed. On that Day, everyone will witness and understand Allah’s power.

The coming of the Day of Reckoning is a certainty, as Allah has said in the Qur’an:-

“And that the Hour (of resurrection) is to come, there is no doubt therein, and that Allah will raise up those in the grave.” (Qur’an, Hajj:7)

But no one knows ‘When’ and there is no exception in this statement. Allah has kept this knowledge to Himself, and even the angels or the Prophets were not given this knowledge. But its reality, there is no question about that, and it will most certainly occur.

The Hour will come so suddenly……

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said:

“The Hour will certainly come, whilst two men will be spreading out a garment between them, but they will not be able to sell it or fold it up; and the Hour will come when a man will milk his she-camel and will take the milk away, but he will not be able to drink it; and the Hour will come before a man who repairs his trough will be able to bring his animals to drink from it; and the Hour will come when a man will raise a morsel of food to his mouth but he will not be able to eat it.” [Bukhari]

The Hour will come so suddenly that there will be no time to reconsider one’s life or repent.

And the Hour will occur on a Friday…..

The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said:

“The sun has not shone in a day better than Friday. It is the day in which Adam (Alaihi Salaam) was created and was descended (to earth) and was forgiven and died. It is the day in which The Hour (Day of Judgement) will take place.”  Al-Tirmizi, Abu Dawood, Al-Nasa’e and Ahmad reported in a good Hadith from Abu Hurairah (Radiya Allahu Anhu)

Allah says at that moment, when the Hour arrives, everything will cease to exist.

“Everyone upon the earth will perish.” [Sura Rahman: Vs 26]
