Reciting a lot of Quran and quickly

Hafiz Ibn Hajr Asqalani writes in “ad-Durrarul Kaaminah” (3/335) concerning Shamsud-deen Muhammad ibn Ahmed ibn Uthman al-Turkustaani al-Qarmi that, he would recite plenty Quran and he was also very fast at reciting it.

(The great muhaddith) Al-Burhaan al-Halabi Sibt Ibnul Ajami said: I entered the al-Quds in the year 782 AH and I saw Shaikh Muhammad al-Qarmi performing the Maghrib salah. He then performed two rakaats and then six.

Shaikh Muhmmad al-Halabi al-Alwaahi, who was close to him in the row in such a manner that between them only one person would have fitted informed me that, Shaikh al-Qarmi recited from the beginning of the Quran till Surah al-Ambiyaa in those six rakaats. He then made salam and this occurred between Maghrib and Eshaa.

Shaikh Muhaddith Muhammad Awwama comments, this is the recitation of worship not of pondering and studying. The people of knowledge have given permission for such recitations.
