Question:
Does oil in the hair prevent water from reaching the skin? Is it necessary to use soap or any other cleansing agent that will remove the grease while performing ghusl?
Answer:
حامدا ومصليا ومسلما
If oil has been applied on the head, hands or feet in such a way that when water is poured, it passes off without wetting those parts, then there is no harm in this. Once water has been poured on the entire head and body, the ghusl (ritual bath) will be complete. (Behishti Zewar 1/58)
