• One of the results of wrongdoing is one’s remaining deprived of real knowledge, which is virtually inner light.

• By doing wrong, the wrongdoer causes the light to be snuffed away.

• Imam Malik once counselled Imam Shafi saying, ‘Verily I perceive that Allah most High has lit a light in your heart. See that you don’t extinguish it by wrongdoing.’
