Laws of Surah Baqarah V.238

“Take due care of all the prayers, and the middle prayer, and stand before Allah in total devotion.  (238)”

Ruling: Allah commands that we should properly observe and protect the five prayers and pray them in their respective times. (Tafsir Jalalayn V1 pg 152)

Ruling: By middle prayer, most of the mufasiroon say the Asr prayer is intended. This is supported by the hadith where the Prophet ﷺ said in the battle of the trench, “May Allah fill their homes and graves with fire as they have prevented us from offering the middle prayer till the sun had set” (Bukhari 4111) Allah specially commands us to protect the Asr prayer because it is at the centre of the day and its during a time that people are generally busy and occupied. (Ruh Al Maani V3 pg 339)

Ruling: Allah commands us in this verse to stand with obedience and respect. Mujahid explains that qunuut means to lower the gaze, to be humble, not to look here and there, not to turn stones, not to play with anything and not to think about worldly affairs. It also means to stand silently. Early in Islam, talking in salaah was permissible. Through this verse it became prohibited. (Bukhari 1200) (Ruh Al Maani V3 pg 342)
