Question:

The Imam made a major error in the recitation of the second rakat of a four rakat salah which invalidated the salah. So should he complete the four rakats or after making the mistake, sit make salam and then repeat the salah?

Answer: حامدا ومصليا ومسلما

Since the salah has become invalid there is no need to complete it. Rather terminate it right away and repeat it.
