Question:

After musafahah (shaking hands) most people pass their hands over their chest. What is its ruling?

Answer:

Musafahah means to attach one’s hand (palm) to another. هي مفاعلة من الصاق صفح الكف بالكف There is no mention of passing hands over the chest after musafahah in the hadith. The fuqaha did not mention it either. This is simply a custom. Therefore one should refrain from it.
