Female Leadership

Question:

For the past three Fridays a detailed treatise of Mufti Muhammad Rafee Usmani saheb has been published in the daily Jang. In these articles Mufti saheb has proven without a doubt from the Quran Hakeem, Blessed Ahaadith, the statements of the respected Imams, Fuqahaa and scholars that the leader of an Islamic country cannot be a woman.

Leaving political connections aside, as a Muslim solely from an Islamic point of view I am asking you this question, in the present situation since a woman is the leader (prime minister) and the people of Pakistan have jointly chosen a woman as their leader and went against the laws of the Quran and Hadith, has the whole public become sinful for leaving out these laws? Will all the people have to face the punishment?

Answer:

You still have a doubt of the sin after the definite ruling of Allah Ta’alaa, His Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) and the consensus of the Ummah has been breached? The sin is directly on those who appointed (chose) the woman as the leader of the government. However, its ill effects will fall on all the people. In Mustadrak Haakim there is an authentic narration that the Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: “Men will perish when they obey women.” [Mustadrak Vol.4 Pg.291] Now in what manner will this destruction come upon Pakistan? Just wait and see!
