Durood Taj and Durood Lakkhi

Question:

Why do the scholars of Deen in our area prohibit us from reciting ‘Durood Taj’ and ‘Durood Lakkhi’? What bad is in these duroods?

Answer:  حامدا ومصليا ومسلما

In the Durood Taj words like ‘The repeller of calamities, plagues, droughts, sickness and pain’ have been used for the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم). These give the impression of shirk or ascribing partners with Allah. It will cause confusion amongst the layman. This is why it is necessary to refrain and stay clear from it. There are many alternative authentic duroods that can be recited and gifted to the Leader of the Universe (صلى الله عليه وسلم). Only these should be read. [Khairul Fatawa 1/338]

All the virtues that are listed for the ‘Durood Lakkhi’ are baseless. To leave out the words of durood that are narrated in authentic hadiths and to read this durood in hope of its many virtues is open deviation.

And Allah Ta’ala knows best.

Durood is to send salutations (الصلاة والسلام) upon the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم)
