Question:

A woman only has one son and he is her only caretaker. His earnings are haram. Will it be permissible for her to use his earnings? She sees his haram earnings but she needs to eat and she has no other caretaker. What is the ruling for such a woman?

Answer: حامدا ومصليا ومسلما

Haram wealth is nothing but haram. In such a situation the mother should try and seek earnings through a halal means. It is also wajib on her to encourage her son to seek halal earnings. Until arrangements are not made, she must continuously repent and seek forgiveness and ceaselessly worry and work on (acquiring) halal.
