The Ruling of Placing a Chicken in Hot Water after Slaughter

Question:

Normally nowadays, chickens are placed in hot water after being slaughtered, so that its feathers are easily plucked. Sometimes they are heated over a fire. Will the meat become impure by doing this? If the meat becomes impure by this, then will cleaning it in warm water thrice cause it to become clean? Nowadays in all the restaurants of the large cities, only this type of chicken which was thrown into hot water after being slaughtered is found. Those people who do not reside in Bombay, only eat at restaurants when in Bombay. So will there be a leeway based on this general affliction?

Answer: حامدا ومصليا ومسلما

If a chicken is thrown into boiling hot water, and it is left for such a long period, in which our predominant belief is that the impurities of its stomach have penetrated into its meat, then it will be considered impure. There is also no way that it may be cleaned.

However, if the water is hot but not boiling, and the chicken is not left in it for a long period, similarly, if it was thrown into boiling water but removed immediately, then the meat will not be impure.
