Alhamdulillah, the Dar al-Iftaa was most fortunate to host Hadhrat Mufti Ahmad Khanpuri saheb (may Allah lengthen his shadow over us) on Tuesday 27th of May 2014 corresponding to 28th Rajab 1435 A.H. Hadhrat Mufti Ahmad Saheb is Mufti Ebrahim Desai saheb`s role model and ustādh in fiqh, hadith and islāh. Mufti Ebrahim Saheb was very excited and overjoyed upon Hadhrat Mufti Ahmad Saheb`s visit and he advised Maulana Muntasir Zaman, student from USA, to prepare couplets of welcome for Hadhrat Mufti Ahmad saheb. The thinking behind the couplets is of Mufti Ebrahim Desai saheb.  The couplets were read by Maulana Hanif Patel, Blackburn, U.K.

Listen to the Ash’aar (couplets) here.

Welcome to him who drank from the oceans, welcome to the pride of India

O the generous and graceful distributor of the inheritance of Mahmūd[1]

He travelled the lands for the reformation of hearts and that is after ample efforts,

Spreading the gems of Qutb al-Aqtāb[2] after which the world became fragrant with oud[3]

The darkness of the night approached while the people are tied to their beds,

Our guest parts from his bed lowering his forehead in prostration

He dove in the ocean of knowledge, the Hadith of (Mufti) Sa`eed[4] and the Fiqh of (Mufti) Mahmū

He gave lovers drink from their goblet. Thus the fruits of his trees are from the witnesses.

Our guest once fell asleep, and behold, the people had gathered for the reckoning,

His sheikh appeared, saying, “Fear not! Our hope is in the Loving Lord”[5]

Our teacher[6] once fell asleep and witnessed the ultimate fortune

He saw Ahmad (peace and salutations be upon him)[7] in the appearance of (Mufti) Ahmad (Khanpuri). And the fire of love is like fuels

Our guest[8] had great effect on us and has blessed us with spiritual effluence for always

And we entertain hope in reward from Allah. And (the fruits of) all deeds return to the guest

The beloved sought light and he was adorned with the crown of fortune[10]

He attained a lofty position and endeavoured to spread the effluence of Mahmūd

He guided him (Mufti Ebrahim) to the pinnacle with a lamp and remembrance of Allah[11]

Our Dār al-Iftā is forever dependent on he who placed the first brick[12]

Our parting is inevitable, and the tears of the eye roll down the cheeks

O pride of India, we hope you once again cool our eyes with your return
