There is a Peer who does things against the Shariah. He is not punctual in Salah, he sits in a state of nakedness, he swears at people, he smokes marijuana and cigarettes and if anyone reprimands him concerning these actions he retorts,

“These things are impermissible in Shariah but we are people of Tariqah and these things are permissible in Tariqah. Our connection is not with Shariah rather it is with Marifah.”

Sometimes he even performs supernatural feats.

Hazrat Faqeehul Ummah the senior most disciple of Hazrat Shaikh Maulana Zakariyah (upon them be the Mercy of Allah) in warning concerning such peers and shaikhs said:

He maybe a peer but he is NOT a vicegerent of the Messenger of Allah  صلي الله عليه و سلم. Never. Otherwise he would have been himself practicing on the faraaidh of Allah and the Sunnah of the Messenger  صلي الله عليه و سلم  and he would have been encouraging others as well. He would never have left out a fardh or Sunnah. He would never have answered in the way he did if someone reprimanded him.

Yes, for sure he is the vicegerent of Shaitaan. Whoever wants to follow Shaitan and end up in Hell should pledge allegiance (bai’ah) to such peers (shaikhs). Allamah Shami has said in Raddul Muhtaar Sharh Durr Mukhtaar (3:395):

هي اي الحقيقة و الطريقة والشريعة متلازمة

Haqiqah, Tariqah and Shariah are all interlinked.

Shaitan also performs supernatural feats.

Karaamaats emanate from the Wali (friend of Allah). A Wali is the one who always practices on the Sunnah and is steadfast on the Shariah.
