Question:
After a person dies (a family member) invites poor people and Imams who are sahebun nisaab (those on whom Zakat is wajib) on a random day (not 3rd, 7th or 40th etc) to gift rewards to the deceased (Isalus Thawaab, to recite the Quran and send the rewards to the deceased). Then food is severed. Is this permissible?
Answer: حامدا ومصليا
This food apparently becomes wages for the recitation. There is no reward in this recitation. There is also a need to abstain from the food of rewards (food given in exchange of rewards).
