{"id":6505,"date":"2013-10-29T20:04:33","date_gmt":"2013-10-30T00:04:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fiqhulislam.com\/?p=69"},"modified":"2013-10-29T20:04:33","modified_gmt":"2013-10-30T00:04:33","slug":"definition-saheeh-authentic-hadith","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiqhulislam.com\/?p=6505","title":{"rendered":"DEFINITION OF SAHEEH (AUTHENTIC) HADITH"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.<br \/>\nDEFINITION OF <em>SAHEEH<\/em> (AUTHENTIC) HADITH<br \/>\n<i>Saheeh<\/i> literally means healthy.<br \/>\nA <i>saheeh hadith<\/i> is one which has a connected chain of upright narrators, who have excellent retentions, and which is free of any irregularities or defects.<br \/>\nTherefore, for a hadith to be classified as <i>saheeh<\/i>, five conditions have to be met:<\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\">\n<li>The narrators should be upright. (\u0627\u0644\u0639\u062f\u0644)<\/li>\n<li>The narrators should have excellent retentions. (\u062a\u0627\u0645 \u0627\u0644\u0636\u0628\u0637)<\/li>\n<li>The chain should be connected. (\u0645\u062a\u0635\u0644 \u0627\u0644\u0633\u0646\u062f)<\/li>\n<li>There should be no irregularities. (\u0639\u062f\u0645 \u0627\u0644\u0634\u0630\u0648\u0630)<\/li>\n<li>There should be no defects. (\u0639\u062f\u0645 \u0627\u0644\u0639\u0644\u0629)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The\u00a0<i>Muhadditheen<\/i>\u00a0explain the above by saying:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The narrators should be upright. (\u0627\u0644\u0639\u062f\u0644)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>An upright person is one who is steadfast on\u00a0<i>taqwa<\/i>\u00a0and decency.<br \/>\nBy\u00a0<i>taqwa<\/i>\u00a0we mean he stays away from sinful acts like\u00a0<i>shirk, fisq<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0<i>bidah<\/i>.<br \/>\nBy decency we mean that he stays away from those things which are considered bad-manners by people of sound intellect like, urinating on the side of the roads or eating there.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The narrators should have excellent retentions. (\u062a\u0627\u0645 \u0627\u0644\u0636\u0628\u0637)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The retention of the narrator could either be a result of his excellent memory or by his recording of the hadith in his book and protecting it from changes and then narrating it from the book.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0The chain should be connected. (\u0645\u062a\u0635\u0644 \u0627\u0644\u0633\u0646\u062f)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This means that each narrator of the chain took the hadith from the narrator above him directly.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There should be no irregularities. (\u0639\u062f\u0645 \u0627\u0644\u0634\u0630\u0648\u0630)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Irregularity is when a narrator contradicts a narrator who is stronger than him in memory, or he contradicts many other accurate narrators.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There should be no defects. (\u0639\u062f\u0645 \u0627\u0644\u0639\u0644\u0629)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Defect <i>(illah)<\/i>\u00a0is a hidden defect that causes the\u00a0<i>hadith<\/i>\u00a0to become weak. A\u00a0<i>hadith<\/i>\u00a0may seem sound, but after extensive investigation a\u00a0<i>muhaddith<\/i>\u00a0may find a defect that was hidden which would cause the hadith to become weak.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.
