{"id":5819,"date":"2017-04-27T01:11:29","date_gmt":"2017-04-27T05:11:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fiqhulislam.co\/?p=5819"},"modified":"2017-04-27T01:11:29","modified_gmt":"2017-04-27T05:11:29","slug":"status-of-hadith-100-reward-and-duas-accepted-on-27th-rajab","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiqhulislam.com\/?p=5819","title":{"rendered":"Status of Hadith: 100 Rewards and Duas Accepted on 27th Rajab"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Question:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">What is the status of this hadith:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Anas \u0631\u0636\u064a \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 \u0639\u0646\u0647 narrates that the Prophet \ufdfa said, \u201cIn Rajab, there is a night on which a hundred rewards are written for the one who worships in it. That is when three days remain of Rajab (i.e. the 27th night). Whosoever performs twelve rakats on it (this night), recites the Fatihah of the Book and a Surah of the Quran in every two rakat, makes salam on the end of them, then says, \u201cSubhannallah, walhumdulillah, wa Laa ilaaha illallah wallahu akbar\u2019 a hundred times, sends salutation on the Prophet \ufdfa a hundred times, supplicates for himself whatever he wishes of his worldly affairs and the Hereafter and fast in the morning, then Allah will accept all his supplications unless he asks for a sin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Answer: \u062d\u0627\u0645\u062f\u0627 \u0648\u0645\u0635\u0644\u064a\u0627 \u0648\u0645\u0633\u0644\u0645\u0627<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This narration has, not one, but two unscrupulous narrators in it, which renders it totally unreliable to practice on or even quote as a matter of virtue.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Imam Baihaqi \u0631\u062d\u0645\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 collected this narration in his \u2018Shuabul Iman\u2019 to point out its unreliability. He starts off by saying, \u201cAnd from amongst the <em>manakir<\/em> (strange and extremely weak or fabricated) narrations mentioned on this issue is what Abu Abdillah Al-Hafiz narrated to us \u2026 that <strong>Khalid<\/strong> ibn <strong>Al-Haiyyaaj<\/strong> narrated to us from his <strong>father<\/strong> \u2026 that Salman Farsi \u0631\u0636\u064a \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 \u0639\u0646\u0647 said that the Messenger of Allah \ufdfa said, \u2018In <em>Rajab<\/em> there is a day and night, that whoever fast on that day and stand on that night (in <em>salah<\/em>) is like the one who fasted a hundred years of time and stood for a hundred years (in <em>salah<\/em>). It is three nights reaming of <em>Rajab<\/em> (27<sup>th<\/sup>) and on it Allah sent Muhammad.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Concerning this narration Hafiz Ibn Hajr Asqalani \u0631\u062d\u0645\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 said in \u2018Tabyinul \u2018Ajab\u2019<a href=\"#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a>, \u201cThis hadith is <strong><em>munkar<\/em> to the limit<\/strong>. Haiyyaaj, who is Ibn Bistaam Al-Harawi has narrated from a group of <em>tabieen<\/em>. Ibn Maeen \u0631\u062d\u0645\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 has graded him weak. Abu Dawud \u0631\u062d\u0645\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 said, \u2018They (the <em>muhaddithun<\/em>) have abandoned him.\u2019 Salih ibn Muhammad Al-Hafiz \u0631\u062d\u0645\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 said, \u2018Al-Haiyyaj is <em>mukarul hadith<\/em>, only two or three of his <em>hadiths<\/em> can be written for further research purposes. I did not know all this about him until I came to Haraah and I saw with him many <em>manakir ahadith<\/em>.\u2019 Al-Hakim Abu Abdillah \u0631\u062d\u0645\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 said, \u2018These <em>ahadith,<\/em> which Salih \u0631\u062d\u0645\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 saw from the <em>ahadith<\/em> of Al-Haiyyaaj, the <strong>sin<\/strong> in them is on his son Khalid.\u2019\u201d After understanding the extreme weakness of this narration, we would fully appreciate Imam Baihaqi\u2019s statement concerning the narration cited in the question.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After this narration of al-Haiyyaaj, Imam Baihaqi \u0631\u062d\u0645\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 says, \u201cAnd this has been narrated with an even <strong>weaker <\/strong>chain than this\u2026\u201d Then he mentions the narration cited in the question.<a href=\"#_ftn2\" name=\"_ftnref2\">[2]<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Reasons for the Unreliability of the Narration in Question:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Allamah Ibn Arraq \u0631\u062d\u0645\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 said in \u2018Tanzeehus Shariah\u2019<a href=\"#_ftn3\" name=\"_ftnref3\">[3]<\/a>, \u201cBaihaqi \u0631\u062d\u0645\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 narrated it and in it(\u2018s chain) are two (narrators) charged with lying, Muhammad ibnul Fadhl ibn \u2018Atiyah and Abaan ibn Abi \u2018Ayyaash.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After a similar criticism, Allamah Abdul Hai Lakhnawi \u0631\u062d\u0645\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 added, \u201cIbn Hajr \u0631\u062d\u0645\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 has listed it in \u2018Tabyinul \u2018Ajab\u2019<a href=\"#_ftn4\" name=\"_ftnref4\">[4]<\/a> amongst the fabrications.\u201d<a href=\"#_ftn5\" name=\"_ftnref5\">[5]<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mulla Ali Qaari \u0631\u062d\u0645\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 also deemed it unreliable in his \u2018Al-Adab fir Rajab\u2019.<a href=\"#_ftn6\" name=\"_ftnref6\">[6]<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is sad to see that around a thousand years ago Imam Baihaqi \u0631\u062d\u0645\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 collected this unreliable narration to <strong>warn<\/strong> us <strong>against<\/strong> it and people are forwarding it on social media as thought it is authentic.
