{"id":5475,"date":"2016-11-10T23:57:03","date_gmt":"2016-11-11T03:57:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fiqhulislam.co\/?p=5475"},"modified":"2016-11-10T23:57:03","modified_gmt":"2016-11-11T03:57:03","slug":"reward-or-loyalty-points-of-credit-card","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiqhulislam.com\/?p=5475","title":{"rendered":"Reward or Loyalty Points on Credit Cards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The use of a credit card is allowed in the Shariah, regardless of whether the card is issued by a banking institution or some other company, subject to the condition that a person does <u>not <\/u>involve himself in interest.<sup>1<\/sup><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As such, the reward\/loyalty points (redeemable for cash, permissible gifts, mileage, etc.) given by such institutions is considered <em>hiba<\/em> (a gift) and halal for you to redeem and use.<sup>2 <\/sup><sup>3<\/sup><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, if any reward points are given by the bank as interest on the money you deposited with them, or involve the purchase of bank products which are <em>haram <\/em>(prohibited) such as CDs, Treasuries, Mortgages, etc. then the reward points <u>cannot<\/u> be redeemed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>And All\u0101h Ta\u1ffe\u0101la Knows Best<br \/>\nWassal\u0101mu \u1ffealaykum <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Ml.
