{"id":5452,"date":"2016-11-10T11:52:44","date_gmt":"2016-11-10T15:52:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fiqhulislam.co\/?p=5452"},"modified":"2016-11-10T11:52:44","modified_gmt":"2016-11-10T15:52:44","slug":"caution-in-narrating-hadith","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiqhulislam.com\/?p=5452","title":{"rendered":"Caution in Narrating Had\u012bth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The following is taken from pages six hundred and one to six hundred and two of the muassas al-ris\u0101lah print of <em>S\u012byar &#8216;Al\u0101m al-Nubal\u0101<\/em><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Yahya Ibn Ayyub relates on the authority of Ibn &#8216;Ajl\u0101n that Ab\u016b\u00a0Hurayrah used to say, &#8220;I am narrating such <i>ah\u0101d\u012bth<\/i> that if\u00a0I had uttered them during the time of &#8216;Umar, without a doubt, my head would have been split.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I [H\u0101fidh al-Dhahab\u012b] say, &#8220;This is exactly how things were. &#8216;Umar, may All\u0101h be pleased with him, used to say, &#8216;Lessen your narration of <i>ah\u0101d\u012bth<\/i> from the Messenger of All\u0101h,&#8217; and stopped\u00a0more than one companion from\u00a0freely narrating <i>ah\u0101d\u012bth<\/i>. This was the policy\u00a0of &#8216;Umar as well as others.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For God&#8217;s sake, when narrating abundantly during &#8216;Umar&#8217;s rule was forbidden in spite of their truthfulness, the absence of chains of narrators, and this was at such a\u00a0time when\u00a0things were still fresh, then what do you think about the abundance of narrating <i>ghar\u012bb<\/i> and <i>munkar had\u012bth<\/i> along with lengthy chains of narrators and loads of deception and mistakes in our time? It is more fitting that we should prevent the people from\u00a0it. Ah, if only they would have restricted themselves to relating <i>ghar\u012bb<\/i> and <i>dha&#8217;\u012bf<\/i> <i>had\u012bth<\/i>! But, by All\u0101h, they will cite fabrications, falsehood, and utter absurdities for <i>aq\u012bdah<\/i>, <i>fiqh<\/i>, <i>mal\u0101him<\/i>, and <i>zuhd<\/i>. We seek Allah&#8217;s pardon.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Whoever narrates such knowing its baseless nature, and deceives the believers, has oppressed themselves, and perpetrated a grave offense against the the prophetic <i>had\u012bth<\/i> and the traditions for which they should be asked to make\u00a0<i>tawbah<\/i>. If they turn back in repentance to All\u0101h and desist, well and good, otherwise such a person is an open sinner. And it is sin enough that they pass on everything they hear.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If such a person did not know then they should be cautious and seek help from someone who can assist them in sorting through their narrations.
