When the day of Eid arrived the value had increased. [Sahih Bukhari #1511] Nowadays, due to the larger cities and bigger populations, getting the Sadaqah to the deserving persons before Eid is a difficult task. Therefore extra days are needed so that the less fortunate can also enjoy Eid.
