Question:<\/span><\/p>\n

In the matter with regards to the slaughtering \/ hunting of animals in the month of Ramadan? Is it permissable when hunting \/ slautering of game is undertaken during the month of Ramadan while fasting for the purspose to generate an income for livelihood?<\/p>\n

In another instance what is the ruling for fishing for leisure purposes during the month of Ramadan while fasting?<\/p>\n

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As-sal\u0101mu \u2018alaykum wa-rahmatull\u0101hi wa-barak\u0101tuh.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In principle one may work and earn an income during fasting in Ramadan. Therefore, if hunting is done to earn a livelihood, it is permissible.<\/p>\n

Hunting and fishing for leisure especially in Ramadan is not permissible. Consider the following Ahadith on the importance of the month of Ramadan,<\/p>\n

\u200fThe Messenger of Allah (\ufdfa) said: ‘There has come to you Ramadan, a blessed month, which Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, has enjoined you to fast. In it the gates of heavens are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and every devil is chained up. In it Allah has a night which is better than a thousand months; whoever is deprived of its goodness is indeed deprived.(‘Sunan an-Nasa’i 2106)<\/p>\n

The Messenger of Allah (\ufdfa) used to strive more in worship during Ramadan than he strove in any other time of the year; and he would devote himself more (in the worship of Allah) in the last ten nights of Ramadan than he strove in earlier part of the month.(Muslim).<\/p>\n
