{"id":4711,"date":"2016-03-14T19:56:09","date_gmt":"2016-03-14T23:56:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fiqhulislam.co\/?p=4711"},"modified":"2016-03-14T19:56:09","modified_gmt":"2016-03-14T23:56:09","slug":"what-is-the-ruling-on-wearing-anklets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiqhulislam.com\/?p=4711","title":{"rendered":"What is the ruling on wearing anklets?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Question:<\/span><br \/>\nWhat is the fatwa on wearing anklets?<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000080;\">Answer: \u062d\u0627\u0645\u062f\u0627 \u0648\u0645\u0635\u0644\u064a\u0627\u0648\u0645\u0633\u0644\u0645\u0627<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Males, whether adult or minor, are <strong>not<\/strong> allowed to wear <strong>any<\/strong> type of anklet as they are adornment specific for women.<a href=\"#_edn1\" name=\"_ednref1\">[i]<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As for females, then it\u00a0is <strong>forbidden<\/strong> for them, young or old, to wear an anklet with <strong>bells<\/strong>. This is expressly mentioned in the following two Ahaadith.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ibn Zubayr (\u0631\u0636\u064a \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 \u0639\u0646\u0647\u0645\u0627) said that a freed slave woman of theirs took Zubayr&#8217;s daughter to Umar ibn al-Khattab (\u0631\u0636\u064a \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 \u0639\u0646\u0647) wearing bells on her legs. Umar cut them off and said that he had heard the Messenger of Allah (\ufdfa) say: \u201cThere is a devil along with each bell.\u201d<a href=\"#_edn2\" name=\"_ednref2\">[ii]<\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Bunanah, the freed slave woman of &#8216;Abd al-Rahman ibn Hayyan al-Ansari (\u0631\u0636\u064a \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 \u0639\u0646\u0647) said that when she was with &#8216;Aishah (\u0631\u0636\u064a \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647 \u0639\u0646\u0647\u0627) a girl was brought in to her, and she was wearing anklets that made noise. She ordered that they were not to bring her in where she was unless they cut off her anklets. She said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (\ufdfa) say: \u201cThe angels do not enter a house in which there is a bell.\u201d<a href=\"#_edn3\" name=\"_ednref3\">[iii]<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hazrat Maulana Khalil Ahmed Saharunpuri (\u0631\u062d\u0645\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647) explains: \u201cIt is not permissible for a woman to wear any type of jewelry which produces a sound, nor is it permissible to adorn little girls with them.\u201d<strong> <a href=\"#_edn4\" name=\"_ednref4\"><strong>[iv]<\/strong><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If the anklet does not have any bells, then it will be <strong>permissible<\/strong> for her to wear it, whether in the house or outside, unless she wears so many that they make a sound when she walks. In this case, it would be <strong>prohibited<\/strong> on her to walk outside of her house if they produce a sound which non-Mahram men (those who are Islamically lawful for her to marry) can hear. <a href=\"#_edn5\" name=\"_ednref5\">[v]<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Allah Ta\u2019ala states: \u201cAnd let them not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment.\u201d <a href=\"#_edn6\" name=\"_ednref6\">[vi]<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hazrat Mufti Muhammad Shaf\u2019ee Usmani (\u0631\u062d\u0645\u0647 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0647) states in the commentary on this verse: \u201cIt is not permissible (for a woman) to reveal her hidden beauty regardless of the method used.
