Question:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0Can a Muslim male\/female celebrate Christmas with extended family if they are a revert?<\/p>\n

Jazakallah<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>Answer:<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As-sal\u0101mu \u2018alaykum wa-rahmatull\u0101hi wa-barak\u0101tuh.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0As Muslims we are sensitive to our belief of pure Taw<\/em>\u1e25<\/em>\u012bd<\/em> (Oneness of Allah Ta\u02bf\u0101l\u0101). This requires us to also completely disassociate ourselves from all practices related to Christianity and other religions.<\/p>\n

Allah Ta\u2019ala says,<\/p>\n

\u0625\u0650\u0646\u0651\u064e \u0627\u0644\u062f\u0651\u0650\u064a\u0646\u064e \u0639\u0650\u0646\u0652\u062f\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0647\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u0625\u0650\u0633\u0652\u0644\u0627\u0645\u064f<\/p>\n

Definitely, the only religion with Allah(acceptable to Allah) is Islam (to hand over oneself totally to Allah). )Al-Imran19).<\/p>\n

In another verse Allah Ta\u2019ala states,<\/p>\n

O you who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians as friends. They are but friends to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them.\u201d (Surah al-Ma\u2019idah, V: 51)<\/p>\n

It is clear from the above quotations that it is not permissible for us to maintain such contact with non-Muslims that we begin compromising in our religious beliefs.<\/p>\n

In order to preserve our Imaan and value, we are even prohibited to imitate them.<\/p>\n

The prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam has said:<\/p>\n

\u201cWhosoever emulates a nation is amongst them\u201d Sunan Abi Dawud 4\/44<\/em><\/p>\n

In view of the above, it is not permissible for a Muslim to attend the religious festivals and ceremonies of non-Muslims.1<\/sup><\/p>\n

Moreover, Christmas in its very origin and its traditions is against the pure teachings and principles of Islam, such as;<\/p>\n
