Question:<\/span><\/p>\n

My father is in Nairobi, Africa at the moment. Over there a man asked him a question. He travelled to London and at the airport, out of precaution, they check with the noses of dogs. Is the mucus that comes out of the dog\u2019s nose pure or impure?<\/span><\/p>\n

Answer:<\/span><\/p>\n

After researching, I was unable to find any explicit ruling of the particles that come out of a dog\u2019s nose. However, what comes to my mind is that the ruling that is given to the sweat and saliva of an animal should also apply to the nasal mucus, because these two are produced by the meat. So if the meat is impure then both of these are also considered impure. This is why the saliva and sweat of a dog is considered impure. Based on the above principle it can be deduced that nasal mucus is also produced from the meat, therefore it will be given the same ruling (of impurity). However one should remember that the ruling of impurity would not be applied to a place simply by a dog sniffing it. Yes, if after the dog sniffs a place and a trace of wetness becomes apparent then the ruling of impurity of the place will apply.<\/span><\/p>\n
