It is the aqida of the \u201cAhle Sunnah wa al-Jam\u0101h\u201d that all the Sahabah are \u0639\u0627\u062f\u0644 (trustworthy). This has been established through Quran, Hadith and Ijm\u0101 (consensus of the ummah)\u00a0. We will elaborate on that with the following points:<\/p>\n
Trustworthiness <\/strong>(<\/strong>(\u0639\u062f\u0627\u0644\u0629 of the Sahabah in the Quran<\/strong><\/p>\n The \u0639\u062f\u0627\u0644\u0629 (trustworthiness) of the Sahabah has been established through the Quran.\u00a0 Allah Ta`ala made the Iman of the Sahabah a criteria for the believers. It is they (the hypocrites) who are indeed the fools, but they do not know it\u201d. (Quran, al-Baqarah, 13)<\/p>\n Mufti Shafi Usmani writes under the commentary of this verse:<\/p>\n \u201cAccording to the consensus of commentators , the Arabic word \u201cnaas\u201d (people) in this verse refers to the blessed Companions of the Holy Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) because it is just these people who had embraced the faith and had accepted the Holy Quran as the word of Allah\u201d. You command what is right, forbid what is evil and believe in Allah\u201d. (Quran, Aal-Imraan, 110)<\/p>\n Umar ibn Khattab (radiyallahu) says in regards to this verse: \u201cIf Allah wished he would have said \u201cantum\u201d then this would include the whole Ummah, but He said \u201ckuntum\u201d specifically regarding the Sahabah and those that follow them in their actions\u201d\u00a0. (Tafseer Tibri)<\/p>\n This shows that Allah has classified the Sahabah as the best of people. He has prepared for them such Janaat beneath which rivers flow, in which they shall live forever. This is the ultimate success\u201d.\u00a0 (Quran, Tauwba, 100)<\/p>\n Allama Ibn Taymiya says: \u201cAnd pleasure from Allah is a pre-eternal attribute. So Allah is not pleased except with that slave who complies with him in those matters that necessitate ( His Divine) Pleasure. And whomsoever Allah is pleased with, He will never become displeased with him\u201d. (Ahkam al-Quran)<\/p>\n Abu Sakhra says: I came to Muhammad ibn Ka`b al-Qurtubi and asked him: what is your opinion in regards to the companions of the Prophet (sallalahu alayhi wa sallam)?. He replied: all the Sahabah are in Jannah. He asked: from where did you get this? The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:<\/p>\n \u0623\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0627 \u0641\u064e\u0644\u0652\u064a\u064f\u0628\u064e\u0644\u0650\u0651\u063a\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u0634\u064e\u0651\u0627\u0647\u0650\u062f\u064f \u0645\u0650\u0646\u0652\u0643\u064f\u0645\u064f \u0627\u0644\u0652\u063a\u064e\u0627\u0626\u0650\u0628\u064e \u0645\u0633\u0646\u062f \u0623\u062d\u0645\u062f \u0637 \u0627\u0644\u0631\u0633\u0627\u0644\u0629 (<\/strong>26\/ <\/strong>301)<\/strong> \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 Ibn Hiban (354H) says: \u201cthis is the greatest proof that all of the Sahabah are \u201ctrustworthy\u201d and none of them are criticised or weak. If any of the Sahabah were to be criticized or weak, the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) would have specified and said \u201c such and such a person should convey to those that are not present\u201d. Since the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) did not do this, it shows that all the Sahabah are trustworthy\u00a0\u201d.<\/p>\n Trustworthiness <\/strong>(<\/strong>(\u0639\u062f\u0627\u0644\u0629 of the Sahabah through ijma (consensus)\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Ibn Athir\u00a0, Ibn Salah, Hafiz ibn Hajar and many other scholars have stated that there is consensus on the fact that all the Sahabah are trustworthy. And there is none more upright than those that Allah chose for the companionship of his prophet and his aid. And there is no attestation better than that and no authentication more complete than that\u201d.<\/p>\n Rational behind the trustworthiness of the Sahabah<\/strong><\/p>\n The entire Shari`ah, the Quran and Hadith has reached us through the link of the Sahabah. (However, despite your efforts to reconcile,) if the one group transgresses against (oppresses) the other, then fight that (transgression) group until they return to (the obedience of) Allah\u2019s command. If they return, then reconcile between them with justice. Be just, for Allah loves those who exercise justice\u201d. (Quran, al-Hujrat, 9)<\/p>\n The question is, how was this verse applied to the Sahabah? Their dispute can only be classified as bagawah when one can ascertain that one of the groups was correct and the other incorrect\u00a0. This has the potential of kufr.\u00a0 From a logical point of view, if Allah\u2019s happiness was temporary, Shaytaan also worshiped Allah for some time and then rebelled. Why didn\u2019t Allah say that He is happy with Shaytaan and interpret that as temporary happiness. The reality is that Allah knew in His infinite knowledge that Shaytaan would rebel. That is why Allah never honoured the Shaytaan with the title of happiness.<\/p>\n Allah blessed the Sahabah with such a title as Allah knew in his infinite knowledge that the Sahabah will never rebel.
