The <i id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1418672229277_7414\">Mukhtasar Khalil<\/i> is essentially an abridgment of Malik&#8217;s <i>Mudawwanat al-Kubra, <\/i>and it is an accurate transmission of the <i id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1418672229277_7415\">madhhab; <\/i>after it is written, almost all serious books of <i>furu&#8217; <\/i>in the <i>madhhab\u00a0<\/i>come as commentaries on it. Other good commentaries on it are written by Hattab<i>: Mawahib al-Jalil<\/i>, Kharshi, &#8216;Illiysh, the former arch-traditional Grand Shaykh of al-Azhar al-Sharif, and Abdul Baqi al-Zurqani, the father of Muhammad al-Zurqani, the author of the renowned commentary on the <i>Muwatta<\/i> in four volumes and <i>al-Mawahib al-Laduniyyah<\/i>. <br clear=\"none\" \/><br clear=\"none\" \/>A good book that gives a very <i id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1418672229277_7426\">Mughni<\/i>-like <i>usuli<\/i> tour guide through Maliki <i>furu&#8217;<\/i> is Qarafi&#8217;s <i>al-Dhakhirah fi Furu&#8217;-il-Malikiyyah<\/i>. Qarafi is, in general a master when it comes to <i>usuli<\/i> issues. <br clear=\"none\" \/><br clear=\"none\" \/>The <i>fatawa <\/i>and <i>Nawazil <\/i>of the <i>madhhab<\/i> can be found in Wansharisi&#8217;s <i id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1418672229277_7418\">Mi&#8217;yar al-Mu&#8217;rib<\/i>, and Mahdi Wazzani&#8217;s <i>al-Mi&#8217;yar al-Jadid<\/i>. The source books of the <i>madhhab<\/i> are the Malik&#8217;s <i>Muwatta<\/i> and his <i>fatawa <\/i>transmitted in the\u00a0<i>Mudawwanat al-Kubra<\/i>. Secondary source material from Malik are found in the Mawazziyyah and &#8216;Utbiyyah, the latter of which has been expounded on extensively by Ibn Rushd al-Jadd in his <i>al-Bayan wal-Tahsil<\/i>, however these two sources are generally considered to be secondary to the first two. <br clear=\"none\" \/><br clear=\"none\" \/>Good primers to teach students are the <i>matn <\/i>of al-Akhdari, which teaches <i id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1418672229277_7462\">taharah<\/i> and prayer, then <i>al-Murshid al-Mu&#8217;in<\/i> of Ibn &#8216;Ashir, which teaches <i id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1418672229277_7416\">&#8216;Aqidah, Taharah, Salah, Sawm, Zakat, Hajj, <\/i>and <i>Tasawwuf<\/i>. These two books are in <i>nazm<\/i> form. After them, the <i>Risalah <\/i>of Ibn Abi Zayd al-Qayrawani is taught. It is in <i id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1418672229277_7465\">nathr<\/i> and includes all of the <i>abwab<\/i> of <i>fiqh<\/i> more or less.
