{"id":1964,"date":"2014-01-20T20:01:42","date_gmt":"2014-01-21T00:01:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fiqhulislam.com\/?p=1964"},"modified":"2014-01-20T20:01:42","modified_gmt":"2014-01-21T00:01:42","slug":"brussels-sprouts-toasted-breadcrumbs-parmesan-lemon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiqhulislam.com\/?p=1964","title":{"rendered":"Brussels Sprouts with Toasted Breadcrumbs Parmesan and Lemon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>INGREDIENTS<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>2-<\/strong> pounds Brussels sprouts<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fiqhulislam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/download-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1965 alignright\" alt=\"download (1)\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fiqhulislam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/download-1.jpg\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>1\/3<\/strong> -cup toasted breadcrumbs (instructions below)<br \/>\n<strong>1\/4<\/strong>&#8211; cup finely grated Parmesan<br \/>\n<strong>1.5<\/strong> -tablespoons lemon zest<br \/>\n<strong>1<\/strong> -tablespoon finely ground black pepper<br \/>\n<strong>1\/2<\/strong>&#8211; teaspoon sea salt<br \/>\n<strong>1<\/strong> -tablespoon olive oil<br \/>\n<strong>METHOD<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>1<\/strong>-Preheat oven to 400 degrees.<br \/>\n<strong>2<\/strong>-To make breadcrumbs: Use the remains of an old baguette. Chop or break into pieces with a sharp knife. Process in the food processor until you have the texture of breadcrumb you desire. To toast them you can either use a toaster oven at 300 degrees until golden brown (this should only take a few minutes), or brown them in a pan. If using a pan, stir frequently so that they don\u2019t burn.<br \/>\n<strong>3<\/strong>-Rinse Brussels sprouts. Remove stems and slice each Brussels sprout in half lengthwise.<br \/>\n4-Toss the Brussels sprouts in the olive oil. Arrange them so that the cut side faces down on a large baking sheet. Roast them until nicely browned at the edges and tender in the center, about 30-35 minutes. (This will vary depending on the size of the sprout and how brown you would like them.)<br \/>\n<strong>5<\/strong>-While the brussels sprouts are browning, mix together the breadcrumbs, parmesan, salt and pepper with a fork. Add the lemon zest last \u2013 it may clump a little, so break it up with the fork if necessary.<br \/>\n<strong>6<\/strong>-When the brussels sprouts are ready \u2013 tender, with a darker shade of green and nicely caramelized edges \u2013 transfer them to a glass bowl.
