There are many madmen<\/p>\n
Stumbling in these streets<\/p>\n
Mumbling madness<\/p>\n
Their eyes don\u2019t see<\/p>\n
For their lack of wits,<\/p>\n
Please don\u2019t berate them<\/p>\n
Turn a kindly eye<\/p>\n
Suppress that angry sigh<\/p>\n
Many are the sick<\/p>\n
afflicted with this<\/p>\n
For them<\/p>\n
There is no bed<\/p>\n
No doctor<\/p>\n
No cure<\/p>\n
Cretins and fools,<\/p>\n
No rest for the weary<\/p>\n
Week kneed, they raise their palms<\/p>\n
Mouthing pleas that would split the seas<\/p>\n
And dash their heads against every love kissed wall<\/p>\n
Crying out time and again: Woe is me!<\/p>\n
Disheveled, unkempt wretches<\/p>\n
Won\u2019t someone turn an eye to them<\/p>\n
Let some mercy descend<\/p>\n
Poor and destitute, desperate<\/p>\n
Loaded down with sin<\/p>\n
They have wandered<\/p>\n
there and back again<\/p>\n
Worn out their shoes<\/p>\n
and planted blisters in their skin<\/p>\n
They have climbed Kilimanjaro<\/p>\n
And plumbed the depths of the seas<\/p>\n
Flung themselves in the jaws of death<\/p>\n
Still<\/p>\n
no relief<\/p>\n
The seeds of despair<\/p>\n
have been planted in their fields<\/p>\n
And been choked by weeds<\/p>\n
Hope sits above the sun<\/p>\n
She bade them come:<\/p>\n
crawl, or walk, or run<\/p>\n
Still they come<\/p>\n
Still their feet bleed<\/p>\n
Stumbling, still they hold out their hands<\/p>\n
Weep<\/p>\n
Tears streaming down their cheeks<\/p>\n
Beards wet<\/p>\n
Tears streaming down their cheeks<\/p>\n
This is how the oceans meet<\/p>\n
This how the rivers greet<\/p>\n
Water & more water<\/p>\n
